TEARS is looking for some dedicated DIYers and loving gardeners who have some time to spare to help us get our kennels into ship shape. The kennels are in need of some repairs and maintenance and our gardens could use some sprucing up. We need your help!
Come spend a few hours at TEARS Animal Rescue on Saturday 18 January 2020 from 10AM to 3PM help us keep the shelter looking tip-top. Much of the gardening has been neglected as our staff are very busy with animal welfare and rescue operations.
If you can come, please let us know by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org – please bring whatever supplies you can too! We have very limited tools at TEARS.
Here are some projects we need help with: Building raised beds and benches and repair decking around the kennels out of pallets; Installing roof sheeting/shade cloth/canvas as barriers on the kennels to prevent the dogs from viewing each other from other kennels; Repairing fencing; Levelling runs and clearing of debris such as glass/plastic etc.; Cleaning and tidying around the kennels.
To complete our work, we’ll need: staple gun and staples, foam/rubber tops, hammers, compost, varnish, paint brushes, paint, wire, fencing, plants (succulents, ground cover, water-wise plants, cuttings from home for propagation) and hand spades. We appreciate any and all donations!
Please join us to keep our shelter a happy place!
