When you choose to support TEARS your company is helping to make a positive difference to the lives of hundreds of homeless dogs and cats and their families in Cape Town.
The animals in our care (on average 125 dogs and 125 cats) are housed at the kennels and the cattery awaiting rehoming with new families. Every animal is cared for with rehabilitation and a forever future at the core of what we do.
Make a Difference!
Our Four Areas of Outreach include:
- Pet Population Management through mass sterilisation and TNVR (Trap-Neutre-Vaccinate-Release) programmes
- Disease Control and Zoonotic Disease Prevention in the form of vaccination and parasite treatment programmes.
- Vet Support and free Primary Healthcare to at-risk pet owners who would otherwise have no access to pet care.
- Empowering Community Pet Owners through compassion education, pet care training and pet food support.
Our Goals:
- To improve animal welfare and to encourage people to treat animals with care and respect.
- To control, contain and reduce free-roaming cat and dog populations through humane and holistic solutions.
- To work towards eradicating rabies and other zoonotic diseases that are spread between animals and humans.
- To provide professional veterinary support and free primary healthcare services to indigent pet owners living in overcrowded and underserved communities in the Southern Peninsula of Cape Town.

We Rely on Donor Partners to Do the Life-Saving Work We Do:
It costs more than R60 000 each day to operate the TEARS Veterinary Hospital, three Animal Ambulances, and Rehabilitation and Rehoming Centres, so a successful corporate partnership can have a huge impact and make a difference to vulnerable cats, dogs and communities in Cape Town.
